Who Creates Your Manual J Analysis

Hi, my name is Gary Transmeier.

Leverage my 35 years of performing heating and cooling loads for commercial and residential buildings to your benefit.

The focus of my career has been the proper evaluation of energy use by both commercial and residential buildings. I have performed numerous loads on actual buildings and also taught engineers and technicians on how to do these same calculations.

Why I do not use packaged software.

I started my career way back when computers were too young to perform complex calculations. So I needed to know how to do these calculations by hand. While tedious, it did show the impact of various building elements. I have spent years repeating the methods to the point sophisticated programs are not necessary. However I have worked with many of them. So I know whether using a spreadsheet or complex program the majority of time is in the inputting of information. I have reviewed analyses performed by other professionals. I discovered the accuracy of the results is in the accuracy of the input. The problem with using a program is if the results seem to differ from expected, it is difficult to determine if there is an input error.

So by doing the calculations with detailed spreadsheets, I am familiar with all input data yet use the computer to do the math. I can do all of this quick enough to offer my services at a low price.

I believe all HVAC professionals should know as much as possible about how a building’s energy use and its impact on equipment sizing. But in the “real world” as you start a job, it is easiest to have the work done and move on to the installation. This is why I am offering this service.
